The Day The Anemone Raised Her Head

The Day The Anemone Raised Her Head

A self-taught artist originally from Israel, Mical Aloni utilizes the layering of closely matched threads to create breathtaking pieces of art that resemble a painting more than a work of embroidery. Drawing from the struggles of her early life and encasing her passion in her work, Aloni seeks to highlight the beauty in the world.

After taking 8 years off from art to raise her twin daughters Maya and Rumi, she is returning with a new style, born from her experiences as a mother and her willingness to take chances with her work, noting that there is no “wrong” or “right” in the world of creativity.

What Aloni does is create photorealistic embroidery; tiny… illustrations, so detailed, so incredibly skilled, that it is hard to believe what you are seeing.Stew Mosberg, Cultural Times Magzine, Jan. 2006
